I write about beauty and skin care as well as major shopping events for NBC Selected, so I’m constantly testing products and keeping track of what’s actually worth buying when it’s on sale. For this sale, I focused largely on products that I or other NBC Selected staffers already own and recommend — including a La Roche-Posay cleanser I’ve used for years, pimple patches I rarely leave home without and one of my favorite concealers. Below, I rounded up the best Ulta Fall Haul deals worth knowing about before the sale ends.
Skin care deals
If you know me, you know that I recommend this spray often. I don’t wash my face in the mornings since I double-cleanse so vigorously at night, so this spray has been a lifesaver in terms of making my skin feel clean after waking up. There is no residue from the spray at all so there’s no need to rub it in or off so I don’t use my hands at all which makes it a cleaner experience overall. I use it to soothe my skin, as a setting spray and I also use this spray to clean my skin care tools. I use it to wipe down my LED red light mask, my Theraface, my Gua Shua, Eyelash curler, edge brush, you name it!
I first tried this cleanser while studying abroad in France, and it has since become the face wash I’ve purchased the most — my mom uses and loves it, too. My skin gets very oily, and I find that this helps remove excess oil without leaving it feeling stripped or tight. The formula has niacinamide and La Roche-Posay thermal spring water, and I only need about one pump per wash, so the large bottle lasts me months.
I use these hydrocolloid patches constantly — so much so that I basically treat them like an accessory and wear them out of the house. They help absorb fluid from my whiteheads and pimples, which I’ve found can make blemishes look noticeably flatter within a day, while also preventing me from picking at them. I especially like the star shape because the pointed edges fit into tricky areas around my nose and eyes.
Beauty deals
This was the first concealer I ever bought, and it’s still one of my favorites. The full-coverage formula is particularly helpful for my dry under-eyes: I find that it doesn’t crease excessively and layers well under setting powder, even during hot summer weather. The travel size is also compact enough to keep in a makeup bag for touch-ups.
I’ve been buying Juvia’s Place since high school, and this is my favorite bronzer I’ve tried. Each compact has two complementary shades, which lets me add dimension and sculpt different areas of my face. I even wore it in roughly 90-degree weather while traveling in Nigeria and it lasted throughout the day. On lighter makeup days, I’ll wear just this and blush and still feel like my face looks put together.
NBC Selected reporter Zoe Malin says Bioderma is the only micellar water brand she buys, using this formula to remove makeup and cleanse her dry skin in the morning. I’m also a longtime fan: I first discovered it while studying abroad in Paris and like that it removes even my waterproof eye makeup without requiring excessive rubbing. A bottle lasts me a long time, too, making the current discount a good opportunity to stock up.
I almost always have a pack of these fragrance-free wipes either at home or with me while traveling. One is usually enough to remove my entire face of makeup, and they don’t leave my skin feeling excessively dry or looking red afterward. I’ve also found that the 25-count packs stay surprisingly moist, even on the occasions when I forget to completely close the package.
Body care deals
I constantly repurchase Touchland sanitizers and keep them everywhere — including my desk, home and everyday bag. The slim containers are easy to travel with, while the spray dispenser makes them convenient to share without having to pass the bottle around. I’m also a fan of the scents since I don’t particularly like the traditional alcohol-heavy smell of hand sanitizer.
Method makes one of my underrated drugstore body washes. I only need a small amount to create a generous lather, so one bottle lasts me quite a while, and the formulas come in several scents. At $7.35 during Ulta’s sale, it’s also one of the more affordable everyday products on this list.
Eos’ body lotion has a lightweight feel that moisturizes without leaving behind the greasy residue I dislike in heavier lotions. I also like that its fragrance lingers on my skin throughout the day, so I’ll sometimes layer it with a coordinating perfume.
