This Good Lock module turns Samsung’s Gallery app into a more capable editor

Samsung’s Gallery app is more than just an image and video viewer. It lets you edit images and videos, turn images into collages and GIFs, and remove backgrounds and undesired objects from images. You can also enable Gallery Labs — a secret menu in Gallery — to unlock additional functionality like album-entry locks and the ability to save images as a PDF.
But that’s not all. Samsung offers a Good Lock module that extends Gallery’s functionality even further. It’s called Gallery Assistant, and it can be really handy if you need to carry out batch image and video operations/manipulations on your Galaxy phone.
Which of these Gallery Assistant tools do you find really useful?
Gallery Assistant brings advanced editing tools and batch processing to the Gallery app
Gallery Assistant is a relatively new Good Lock module that adds seven new tools to the Gallery app, making it even more suitable for editing images and videos. The best part is that many of these tools support batch processing. As a result, you don’t have to repeat the same operation across multiple images and videos; you can do it all at once and save time and effort. Here are all the Gallery Assistant tools and what you can do with them.
Reduce size: As the name suggests, this tool lets you shrink images and videos. That way, they take up less storage space, and you can store them on your phone or any other storage device without worrying about running out of space. Likewise, you may find this tool helpful when you can’t upload media files to a website because they exceed the specified size. Just note that shrinking can affect the quality of images and videos.
Rotate and flip: Got a bunch of misoriented images and videos on your Galaxy phone? The Rotate and flip tool can save your day. It offers a rotate option that lets you bulk-rotate images. Simply select similarly oriented images and rotate them. Repeat the process until all your images are reoriented. Sure, it’s still some work, but it’s better than rotating images one by one. You can also flip images with this tool.
Image clipper: Unlike <a href="https://myappsplus.com/iphone-18-pro-using-the-new-variable-aperture-lens/” title=”iPhone 18 Pro: Using the New Variable Aperture Lens”>iPhones, your Galaxy phone doesn’t allow you to lift a subject from an image to extract it. It’s a rather tedious process and requires a third-party app. The Image clipper tool makes it pretty easy, though. With it, you can extract foreground subjects from multiple images at once. You can then save the extracted subjects as stickers or separate images, depending on your needs.
Add watermark: If you want to upload your own images to a social media site and don’t want others using them as their own work, you can watermark them first using the Add watermark tool. It lets you choose your preferred watermarking style and pick which of the model name, logo, and date to show. You may also customize the watermark style by changing things like font, color, size, and transparency.
Compare images: When you have a bunch of similar-looking images in your photo library and can’t decide which ones to keep and which ones to delete, Gallery Assistant’s Compare images tool has your back. It lets you open multiple images and compare them side by side. After you’re done comparing, you can tap the heart icon to favorite the image(s) you want to keep, or tap the trash icon to delete the ones you don’t need.
Save as PDF: The Save as PDF tool allows you to turn images into a PDF. What’s nice about it is that it puts you in control of the output file, letting you choose the desired page size, layout, and output quality before creating a PDF. You can also rename the PDF and preview it.
Print: If you often print a lot of images right from your Galaxy phone, Gallery Assistant’s Print tool can be a lifesaver. It eliminates the need to open each image and print it individually, letting you print all images at once. You can also configure output settings, such as paper size, orientation, and color, before printing the images.
At the bottom of the list, you’ll also see Enhance-X — an AI-powered app that lets you fix your images and videos with a few simple taps. Tap the download icon next to it to install Enhance-X. You can then access it from Gallery Assistant or its own app.
How to use Gallery Assistant on your Galaxy phone
Editing images and videos in Gallery Assistant is straightforward. We’ll walk you through using one of its tools — Reduce size — to give you a general idea of the process.
Start by downloading the Gallery Assistant module. You can find it in the Good Lock app, just like any other module. Open Good Lock, go to the Plugins tab, and tap the download icon next to Gallery Assistant. If you don’t have Good Lock installed, download it from the Galaxy Store.
Once installed, you can access and use Reduce size or any other tool in two ways. If you’re already in the Gallery app, you can do this directly, without leaving the app. Select the images you want to shrink, tap More in the bottom toolbar, and select Edit with Gallery Assistant in the menu.
This will open your selected images in Gallery Assistant. In this app, you’ll see the total number of selected images at the top, along with their total size. Tap Reduce size to select the tool. Now, drag the Image size slider at the bottom to adjust the desired output size for your images. Hit Save to shrink the images and save them. Tap OK to exit or View to view the resized images.
Alternatively, you can open the Gallery Assistant app directly. Then, hit the plus (+) button at the top to choose the images or videos you want to edit. Tap the tool you want to use — Reduce size, in this case — and set the output properties. You could also pick the tool first and then choose the images or videos you want to edit.
With Gallery Assistant, you don’t get any customization options or settings. The only thing you can do is change the order in which the tools appear on your screen. So, if there are any tools that you think you’d use more than others, move them to the top of the list for quick, easy access.
Gallery Assistant is a fantastic tool
I’ve been using Gallery Assistant on my Galaxy phone since its release, and I really like it. I find its rotate, shrink, and watermark tools the most useful of the lot. Some of them have reduced my reliance on third-party apps like Image Toolbox.
That said, I’d wish to see Gallery Assistant pack a few other useful tools, such as format conversion, EXIF metadata editing, and bulk image renaming. Combined with the fact that it supports batch operations, that would make Gallery Assistant and, in turn, Samsung Gallery a really powerful editing tool.
