Following the macOS launch in April, Google is bringing the Gemini for desktop app to Windows.
The Gemini desktop app is launched with an Alt + Space keyboard shortcut on Windows. As of today’s debut, Google touts instant Gemini access over whatever you’re currently doing: “Whether you need a quick fact-check on a document or a few catchy title ideas for a presentation, you can get the help you need and jump right back into your workflow.”
Gemini Spark is available as your 24/7 personal AI agent with access to your Connected Apps. The final capability is image (Nano Banana) and video (Gemini Nano) generation.
Visually, the actual window is basically the website with a side panel to access Notebooks and Recents. The app is said to be “lightweight and quiet.”
Google teases that “more native desktop capabilities [are] rolling out over time.” Gemini for desktop is available on Windows 10 and 11. You can download it here: gemini.google/desktop.
