An Amazon cargo aircraft operated by 21 Air crashed while attempting to land at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The aircraft overran the runway and struck several vehicles before catching fire, according to local officials.vAmazon confirmed that the aircraft was an Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air and said it was working with local authorities to understand what happened. In a latest update, the company said its priority was the safety and care of those affected by the crash.“We’re heartbroken to learn that five people lost their lives in today’s incident at Miami International Airport. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families, loved ones, and all those affected by this devastating loss,” Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in a statement shared on Amazon News website.

The Boeing 767 was attempting to land when it left the usable portion of the runway and hit multiple vehicles. The crash caused a large fire, with thick black smoke visible above the airport.Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Raied “Ray” Jadallah said five people were killed and another five were injured. Three of the injured were in critical condition and were taken to a trauma centre. Two others were taken to a local hospital. Several people were trapped inside vehicles struck by the aircraft and had to be removed by emergency crews.According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, more than 60 emergency units responded to the crash.“21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for additional information,” the Federal Aviation Administration shared in a post on X.
