RTD launches single app for trip planning, fares, and security tools

The NextRide app brings customers an all-in-one solution to make travel easier and more convenient every step of the way
DENVER (Aug. 25, 2026) –– The Regional Transportation District (RTD) has launched its new NextRide mobile app, giving customers a single platform to plan trips, purchase and store digital fare, and report security concerns. NextRide consolidates multiple RTD tools into a streamlined experience, including viewing real-time vehicle locations, Service Alerts, and access to customer support.
The integrated mobile app makes using transit easier at every step, expanding the functionality of the existing NextRide web app by bringing trip-related tools together with fare management and customer-support features. The app, which is available in 10 languages, retains MyRide and Transit Watch app capabilities without needing to use more than one digital platform. “RTD is introducing a new mobile experience designed to make planning trips and purchasing fares more customer intuitive,” RTD General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson said. “Direct customer feedback informed app development and usability enhancements, including an easy way to report security concerns. Bringing these tools together in one place creates a more streamlined customer experience.”
A welcoming transit experience
Security reporting through NextRide helps customers support a welcoming and secure experience for everyone. Through the app’s “Security” section, customers can connect directly with Transit Police dispatchers who work around the clock, year-round, to address concerns. While most customers travel without issue on RTD services, the reporting feature offers another convenient way to get assistance. Customers may also continue to contact Transit Police by calling 303.299.2911 or texting 303.434.9100.

The app makes it easier to discreetly communicate concerns with Transit Police dispatchers in real time, which we anticipate will be particularly well received,” said Deputy Chief of Police Sean Faris. “The app reflects RTD’s commitment to providing a community-focused environment and customers will value the ability to use a single app for all their transit needs.”
Seamless transition for MyRide customers
Current MyRide users can sign in to the NextRide mobile app using their existing credentials. Fare products and eligible discounts will carry over automatically, ensuring a smooth transition.
RTD plans to integrate more standalone apps into NextRide for added customer convenience over the next two years. The agency will add Access-a-Ride trip planning into NextRide late next year. FlexRide trip planning is planned for integration in 2028. RTD will communicate any further app enhancements as they become available.
Over time, the MyRide and Transit Watch standalone apps will be phased out as customers move to the NextRide app to access all transit-related tools within the single app. RTD will notify customers well in advance before these separate legacy apps become unavailable.
The NextRide mobile app was built using React Native and supported by partner Software Development Kits. RTD will gather customer feedback in the coming months about the new NextRide app to refine and enhance its functionality.
Customers are encouraged to download NextRide to conveniently plan trips, manage fares, and be supported in their transit experience with RTD.
