Strong consumer enthusiasm and record- breaking pre-orders highlight increasing demand for Samsung’s foldable range

Samsung Electronics has once again set a new standard in foldable smartphone innovation. Early reviews of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 are praising the new devices for their innovative design, cameras, and, importantly for foldables, the quality and flexibility of the screens.

Following record pre-order numbers in Europe, which saw the new line-up become Samsung’s most pre-ordered foldable range ever, the new foldables are now in the hands of consumers. The average review score from European consumer reviews is 4.8/5 stars, showing how the new Galaxy Z Series is capturing the imagination of consumers across Europe.

One Size No Longer Fits All: Europeans Want More Smartphone Screen Space

The consumer excitement for the new Galaxy Z Series is no surprise, as recent research1 revealed smartphone users are demanding more from their devices than ever before. Nearly seven in ten (69%) Europeans want the flexibility of a slim, everyday phone that also unfolds into a larger screen.

Whether it’s multitasking across apps, marking up a document or editing a video, today’s consumers are pushing smaller screens to their limits. Based on a survey of 4,006 people regarding their smartphone habits, the majority (85%) of respondents agreed that they leave tasks unfinished on their phone and complete later on a device with a bigger screen.

Consumer habits show how foldable devices have become a practical solution to these needs, with the most cited benefits being:

    • Comparing information side by side (31%)
    • Finishing tasks without switching devices (30%)
    • Watching, reading or gaming on a larger screen (29%)

    Consumers Applaud the Innovation

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has quickly established itself as a favorite among power users and mobile professionals seeking uncompromised multi-tasking performance and immersive display technology.

Early consumer reviews2 praise the large screen for multitasking and content viewing, as well as quality of the camera.

“I love the simplicity of switching from a normal screen to a large screen. Then spitting the screen to increase productivity. Watching my favourite streaming service on a larger screen is great too.”

“The camera quality is incredible, the battery life is super long and it is very lightweight.”

“I love that it stands out from every other smartphone while still delivering all the speed and features I need.”

Next, the Galaxy Z Fold8 continues to widen the mainstream appeal of book-style foldables with its lighter, slimmer chassis. The new form factor has been well received by consumers, according for over 40% of all pre-orders of the Galaxy Z 8 series in Europe.

Consumers are loving their Galaxy Z Fold8, according to early reviews. In particular the new form factor is a hit, with many calling it the “perfect size” and praising the foldable technology with a reduced crease.

“…the fold actually is the perfect size for content I watch and a mini on the go tablet.”

“The crease quality I has extremely improved. The screen size itself is very unique….Overall really good new product.”

“What really intrigued me about the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the futuristic look and versatility, providing multiple screen sizes for mixed uses.”

The Galaxy Z Flip8 has seen an overwhelmingly positive response in early European consumer reviews. The small form factor that opens into a larger screen, as well as the enhanced FlexWindow are getting rave reviews from consumers.

Finally, the iconic Galaxy Z Flip8 remains a top choice for style-conscious creators drawn to its upgraded Flex Window and versatile hands-free camera experiences.

“The new layout on the cover screen allows you to use all apps! I love the pink colour and all the different ways to customise it!””

“The folding form factor makes it so compact and convenient to carry, yet it opens up into a gorgeous, premium 6.9-inch display.”

“It’s great and easy for me to carry for work as it fits better in my pocket …light weight and performance is great.”

The new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Fold8 and Galaxy Flip8 are available now at Samsung.com.
