Following the initial rollout of Liquid Glass on iOS earlier this year, WhatsApp is now working to bring the design to more interface elements. Here are the details.

Liquid Glass coming to WhatsApp’s drawing editor and video player

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but WhatsApp is working on expanding its Liquid Glass redesign to even more parts of the app.

Earlier this year, the app finally rolled out its initial Liquid Glass revamp more broadly, after testing it for more than six months.

At the time, the company was also working on bringing the new design to elements such as the voice message player, message reactions, and context menus, although those changes remained limited to its beta app.

Now, as WhatsApp’s latest iOS beta shows that the company is preparing to bring the Liquid Glass look and feel to more interface elements, namely the drawing editor and the video player’s progress bar

The drawing editor allows users to annotate or edit photos, videos, and GIFs before sharing them. At the top of this screen, users can find some buttons to add text, draw, place stickers, and more. WhatsApp is now working on updating these buttons to match the Liquid Glass style in the future. […] The video player is another screen that will be compatible with the Liquid Glass design. When users open a video, they can see a progress bar at the top of the screen that shows the playback position. WhatsApp is now working on updating this progress bar to match the Liquid Glass design as well.

While it is worth noting that some 9to5Mac readers frequently report that they still haven’t received the initial Liquid Glass rollout on their iPhones, today’s news continues Meta’s work to adopt the new visual language not just on iOS, but also on macOS and iPadOS.

Back to today’s news, WABetaInfo notes that ”this feature is currently in development and not yet available for beta testing.”
