Rockstar will finally show us Grand Theft Auto VI in detail next week, but series of actual gameplay leaks have seemingly hit the internet already as we reported yesterday. Since then an alleged look at the actual map has landed online, and a series of other gameplay clips of various locations are flooding the internet right now.
As we detailed previously, there is no way to know whether or not all of these clips are real. It seems as though the first two gameplay videos – one of protagonist Jason playing basketball outside the home we saw in the official trailer, and another one with some driving and a brutal attack on a (sort of) innocent civilian – could actually be from an early build of the game (reports suggest 2023 or 2024), but the rest might be entirely fake or not.
Since the first two clips landed, alongside a look at what might be the game’s actual map, a series of potentially fake clips have flooded X and Reddit, and elsewhere. They might all be AI slop at this point, but it’s hard to know for sure.
The initial leaks come from a group calling themselves CyberLeek. We cannot confirm how or when these folks obtained the footage, but all the videos point to what might be a totally sketchy site and what appears to be some sort of crypto scam – be very careful what you click on at this point. The group is also looking to extort Rockstar as well – it claims it will continue to release leaks of the game until its demands are met:
- A proper disc release of GTA VI – No digital pre-orders
- No solo DLC locked behind a paywall
- And full access to the game offline
…we will not be playin any more waiting games today. You are under a ticking time bomb, meet our demands or else we will leak the rest of the gameplay.
It is unclear whether or not the group even has any more or if any of it is actually real, but Rockstar has managed to remove just about all of the footage and images the group posted on X and other platforms…so something is going on here. You will still find much of it floating around, but as folks look to mirror hosts, things are getting more and more sketchy by the minute – be careful what you click on and don’t download anything.
All told, this is all about as exciting as it is annoying. Many of us would prefer a proper disc for the game we have been waiting over a decade for, but after waiting this long, I would rather wait for the real “Extended Look” next week than waste my time with this low res slop, whether it’s real or not.
